Named by the Miwok, Olompali is now a popular State Park. Olompali’s heritage reflects California’s colorful history. The early Miwok settlement was divided by Mexican Land Grants; during California’s war of independence with Mexico a battle occurred on its soil; and the Gold Rush brought prosperity to Olompali’s ranches. During the Victorian Era, exotic gardens and elegant architecture flourished. Later, the property served as a playground for post-war suburban life of the 1950s and the counter-culture scene of the 1960s. Today, under the stewardship of California State Parks, visitors can hike these trails of history at Olompali.
The Marin History Museum exhibit covering Olompali State Park required a multitude of printed graphic design pieces. This extensive exhibit utilized seven printed informational panel designs to accompany the exhibit’s artifacts and convey their story. An outdoor display banner and postcard were also used to advertise the exhibit and draw in the crowd.
